April 5, 2008 - Saturday -- Dirt!

Almost two years after the first foundation, Dwayne Pfeffer is back with his tractor.  We've been waiting for the rain to quit and the dirt to dry out.  Today, he scraped off where the house will be to let the dirt dry as much as possible before Monday.

April 7, 2008 Monday -- Other Dirt!

Five 18 wheelers full of dirt arrived, Dwayne moved dirt around, boards set, string lines up, some rebar wired together - things moving quickly!  I think all the rebar will be done tomorrow and concrete poured on Wednesday.

April 8, 2008 Tuesday

We woke up to banging and beeping from the ditch machine making the foundation beams...

Here's the end of the day, from dirt to rebar...ready for concrete.  The goats came over to check out the commotion.

April 9, 2008 Wednesday

We woke up to concrete truck...here's the first truck and the first bit of concrete. 

Done. I (of course) looked up concrete on the Internet, and the Concrete Foundation says to keep it wet for a week.  God started misting it almost immediately.   Thank you, God.  For the foundations poured, the health of those doing it, for the rain - for everything.
